Group Recommends Arkansas Put More Money into Higher Ed

APRIL 18, 2004 - Posted at 5:05 p.m. CDT

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A study by a non-profit group recommends Arkansas put more money into its higher education programs.

The Good Faith Fund targets poor Arkansans, particularly those in the Delta region.  A study by the organization calls for more funding to help the Arkansas Workforce Improvement Grant Program and the Nursing Student Loan Program.  Both were enacted in the 2003 regular legislative session.

This year, 500 students used the workforce grant to attend colleges or universities.  The nursing program gave loans this year to 25 nursing students.
