New Orleans Mardi Gras Heads to Jonesboro

Fifteen years ago the Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce wanted a way to showcase businesses across the area - all while featuring new businesses.  The idea turned into the first Business Expo.  This week the fifteenth version of the Expo produced many firsts for the area.

Chamber members say this year’s Expo will be the biggest ever, adding when the final numbers are tallied they expect to have had the largest crowd for the event.  Many businesses are saying the increased size helps them reach the local markets, something which could take a lot of time and advertising dollars to accomplish without the event.

Another first for the Business Expo is the creation of a theme - the 2004 theme was "Mardi Gras".  Beads, carnival decorations, and masks helped add to the expos atmosphere.  Maracas could also be heard on the stadiums floor.

KAIT sponsored this years event.  KAIT General Manager Clyde Anderson says the Expo is area businesses time to shine.
