Fire destroys Craighead County home early Thursday

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A fire early Thursday morning gutted a home in Craighead County.

Fire crews were called to a home on 1604 County Road 655 just before midnight. The fire department says when crews arrived, they found the house fully involved; flames were shooting through the roof.

Lake City units were the first on the scene with trucks also coming from Bay and Jonesboro later to help fight the blaze.

There was a resident in the home at the time of the fire, but they were able to get out without being injured.

The home is believed to be a total loss, and officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
