WALNUT RIDGE, AR (WBC) - Tyler Williams, a junior from Paragould, Ark. has been chosen for the first team All-American Midwest Conference baseball squad. The AMC released it all-conference and academic all-conference selections on Friday.
Williams led WBC in hitting with a .362 batting average. Not only did he have a solid average, but he also hit with power, adding eight home runs and driving in 30 runs. He ranked second in the AMC with 17 doubles on the year.
"Tyler was leader for us in the field and at the plate this season. We are excited that he will be back next season," said Head Coach Frank Lee.
The Eagles landed three players on the honorable mention All-AMC team: Kendall Fay of Piedmont, Mo., Paul Welch of Hot Springs, Ark., and Shawn Selph of Jackson, Tenn.
Fay finished the season with a .329 batting average, four home runs, and 23 runs batted in. Welch did not commit an error all season for the Eagles defense. He batted .301. Selph led Williams from the mound striking out 9.72 batters per nine innings pitched. He struck out 54 batters in 50 innings. He won six games, while dropping two.
Thirteen Eagles players made the academic all-conference squad: Blake Coffman, Josh Consemiu, Cogan Ford, Alex Markum, Coty Martin, Alex Skidmore, Nathan Thomas, Mitchell Dennis, Jim Manney, Clay Phillips, Josh Smith, Drew Tullos, and Chris Richardson.
