JONEBSORO, AR (KAIT) - A community service project in Jonesboro on Saturday bridged the age gap between multiple generations while improving the community.
The Craighead County Extension Homemakers Club and the Modern Woodmen of America Youth Service Club worked together for "Join Hands Day."
"Join Hands Day" is a national day of service sponsored by the MWA and other fraternal benefit societies.
The group collected toiletry items to the Jonesboro Salvation Army. Activities Coordinator, Jennifer Foltz said events like this teach children the importance of helping those less fortunate. She added even if you don't have a lot, giving a little helps too.
"They're able to have for the day, at least one day they can be clean and brush their teeth and things like that, that we may take for granted," Foltz said.
Children aged three to eight years old were at the event helping put together the toiletry bags.
