Truck & Train Collide in Waldenburg

WALDENBURG, AR - K8 News has learned that authorities and emergency responders in Poinsett County are at the scene of a truck-train collision in Waldenburg this morning.

Very few details are available at this time, but witnesses say a train struck a Peterbilt 18-wheeler as the semi attempted to make its way across the railroad tracks on Highway 14.  The accident occured at approximately 8 a.m.

K8 News has a crew at the scene.  Photojournalist Chris Haag says traffic on U.S. 49 is backed up considerably, and southbound traffic on 49 is being re-routed.  Haag also says a medical helicopter crew has arrived at the scene to tend to the injured truck driver.
