Billy Green Denied Change of Venue

Pocahontas, AR -- Billy Green's defense team is certain that the excessive media coverage in this case will hurt their client's chances of being fairly tried in Randolph County.

On Thursday, Judge Harold Erwin denied a change of venue.

The defense team aired in court several stories aired by KAIT since the time of the murders to support their case. They also introduced stories aired by a Little Rock station, and presented a box of newspaper clippings that have run in various newspapers around the state concerning this case.

One witness called by the state, who is also a friend of Green's, testified that quote " if it was me, I wouldn't want to be tried here based on what's been spread."

Another witness called by the defense stated that quote, "95% plus people have already made up their minds based on what's on the news."

The state argues these same witnesses, based on their testimonies, haven't even heard of all the towns in Randolph County, so how would they know?

Billy Green also filed a hand written motion to withdraw his guilty plea made last month for drug charges. He believes he was denied the effective assistance of council when he made that plea. There is no word on what will happen on this particular issue.
