FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (ArkansasRazorbacks.com) - The University of Arkansas football team had 12 different players selected to Phil Steele's preseason All-American or preseason All-SEC teams, it was announced Thursday.
The Razorbacks had five players named preseason All-Americans and 12 players named to the preseason All-SEC teams. Arkansas' five preseason All-America selections tied for the third-highest total in the SEC, and the 12 members of the preseason All-SEC team tied with Alabama for the second-most selections in the conference.
Running back Knile Davis and wide receiver Cobi Hamilton earned second-team All-America nods, while quarterback Tyler Wilson was a third-team All-America selection by Steele. Tight end Chris Gragg and offensive guard Alvin Bailey were fourth-team All-Americans.
Wilson, Davis and Hamilton also were named preseason first-team All-SEC performers by Steele. Gragg and Bailey were named to the All-SEC second-team, where they were joined by linebacker Alonzo Highsmith and kick returner Dennis Johnson. Center Travis Swanson, defensive tackle Byran Jones, kicker Zach Hocker and punter Dylan Breeding all garnered third-team All-SEC recognition, and safety Eric Bennett was tabbed as a fourth-team All-SEC performer.
