Arkansas AD Jeff Long not interested in leaving school

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long says he isn't interested in leaving, refuting a report that said he was a candidate for the athletic director position at Stanford.

Long didn't name Stanford in a statement from the school. The Cardinal are looking to replace Bob Bowlsby, who is leaving Stanford on June 15 to become the commissioner of the Big 12.

The report said Stanford officials had reached out to Long, who hadn't responded to the inquiries.

Long, who made national headlines by firing coach Bobby Petrino last month, says he is committed to Arkansas as it searches for a long-term solution for a football coach. Long hired John L. Smith as interim coach last month.
