MOUNTAIN HOME, AR (KAIT) – A Baxter County man accused of threatening people with a gun surrendered to the sheriff's office.

According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, Vernon Henson came to the jail and turned himself in around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The sheriff states officers were called to Hunt Club Drive Friday around 7:30 p.m. where a man had been reported threatening people with a shotgun.  Officers say witnesses told them Henson had approached them with the gun and was threatening them.

Witnesses were able to get the gun away from Henson and he fled the scene, according to Sheriff Montgomery.

Henson was taken into custody on charges of felony aggravated assault and felony possession of a firearm by a felon.  His bond was set at $15,000 and he is scheduled to be in court on May 24th.
