LITTLE ROCK, AR - President Bush is scheduled to visit Van Buren today, his third stop in Arkansas this year.
Bush's exposure in Arkansas' public eye concerns state Democratic Party officials. Their candidate, John Kerry, will be in Little Rock tomorrow, making his first Arkansas visit.
Arkansas Democratic Party chairman Ron Oliver jokes that Bush is almost eligible to vote in Arkansas, which is considered a battleground state.
The Bush visit to Van Buren is being coordinated by the White House and will center on the No Child Left Behind Act, not the campaign.
Kerry will follow that with a welcome rally tomorrow afternoon at Little Rock National Airport with retired General Wesley Clark, his former rival in early primaries. Clark will stay with Kerry throughout his visit, including a fundraiser tomorrow night at the Peabody Hotel and a speech on health care Thursday morning.
