JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police are investigating a string of robberies that occurred along Southwest Drive over the weekend.

According to Lt. Steve McDaniel two men robbed a customer and clerk at gunpoint at the Kum & Go on Southwest Drive at approximately 2:30 a.m. Monday.

"Nobody was injured in the robbery. The only thing that was taken was an undisclosed amount of cash," said Sgt. Lyle Waterworth.

Country Mart on Southwest Drive was hit around 11 p.m. Sunday.

Two men robbed Firehouse Subs located at the Culberhouse and Southwest Drive intersection around 10 p.m. Saturday.

"(The) individual was robbed of some cash by two individuals that were described as black males being anywhere from 5'8" to 6'2". Both were described as being slender build and had their faces partially obscured by mask or bandanas," said Sgt. Waterworth.

"I was very disappointed and surprised to be quite honestly (sic) that we had so many robberies. I mean they've done such a good job on remodeling buildings and bringing in new buildings," said Kum & Go patron Bobby Willis.

Suspect descriptions from the Kum & Go employees listed in the police report match the descriptions from Firehouse Subs employees.

Police will not yet say if the three robberies are related.

"At this time the investigation is still ongoing and detectives are following up every lead that they can follow up on, but at this time there's nothing to say concrete," said Sgt. Waterworth.

Willis, a bodyguard, said the recent crime in area comes as a shock. "I was very surprised that criminals would be in this area and take chances like that."

However, Willis said he is not scared.

"I've been in this business a long time and I never drop my guard, but I don't worry about it a whole lot."

Police encourage anyone with information about the cases to call Crimestoppers at (870) 935-STOP (7867) or email Sgt. Lyle Waterworth at lwaterworth@jonesboro.org.
