Marked Tree Airport to Get Nearly $200,000 in Improvements

WASHINGTON, DC - First District Congressman Marion Berry today joined with Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln in announcing $197,400 grants to Poinsett County for improvements to the Municipal Airport at Marked Tree.

The money will be used to acquire land to prevent encroachment by incompatible land uses and development in the future Runway 18 Protection Zone; acquire property for both the Runway 18 and 36 approaches; acquire land for development needed to construct a parallel taxiway and expand the existing apron; and acquire property needed to widen the runway.

The grants come from the Federal Aviation Administration.
