Man arrested for theft by receiving, delivering drugs to minor

MARKED TREE, AR (KAIT) - A Marked Tree man was arrested Wednesday night on a number of charges including theft by receiving and delivering drugs to a minor.

Police say they found a stolen go-kart and marijuana at Benjy Marshall's home and found out he had been selling drugs to a minor

According to Detective Larry Jones with the Marked Tree Police Department, officers went into a home to investigate a go-kart theft around 6 p.m.

While following up on a tip at Marshall's apartment, officers say they spoke to a juvenile nearby who said Marshall had been selling him drugs. Police say the juvenile also told them he had bought the drugs from Marshall within 1,000 feet of two churches and a park.

After getting consent from Marshall's wife, police say they also discovered, with the use of a Lepanto Police K9, 8.2 ounces of marijuana in a small cooler in the back of the home. Investigators say Marshall's children were in the home when the drugs were found.

Marshall is scheduled to appear before District Judge Ron Hunter Thursday on charges of theft by receiving, delivery of a schedule 6 controlled substance, delivery to minors, proximity to certain properties, possession of drug paraphernalia, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
