JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The Craighead County Sheriff's Department is looking for a man who escaped while getting medical treatment for a broken jaw.

According to a department news release, Aremon Wilkins, 24, walked away from treatment at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center on the morning of May 20th.  The release states Wilkins slipped out of his handcuffs and managed to get past an officer at the hospital.  His mouth is wired shut, according to authorities.

Wilkins was in jail on failing to appear in circuit court charges.  The sheriff's department says he is not considered to be dangerous.  In 2011, Wilkins was involved in a standoff with the Jonesboro Police Department outside his girlfriend's home.

Sheriff's department officials say he may be in Mississippi County, in the Osceola area.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Aremon Wilkins, you are asked to contact local law enforcement or the Craighead County Sheriff's Department at (870) 933-4551.
