JONESBORO (AStateRedWolves.com) – The Arkansas State Athletics Department announced Saturday the dates for its 2012 Scarlet Scramble golf tour across Northeast Arkansas, which includes three tournaments in the month of June and one in July.
The Scarlet Scramble tour will kickoff June 6 in Osceola and continue in Newport on June 8, Paragould on June 26 and Blytheville on July 9. The tournaments in Osceola and Newport are set to begin at 1 p.m. and will be followed by a dinner. The Paragould and Blytheville tournaments will start at noon with a lunch and have a 1 p.m. tee time.
Members of the ASU coaching and athletic department staff will be in attendance at each event and compete alongside fans in teams of four or more in a scramble format. The winning team at each Scarlet Scramble will earn a free spot in the ASU Open, set for Oct. 12 at Sage Meadows Country Club.
"This is a great opportunity for our coaches and administrators to get out and have a fun day of golf with our fans," said Doug Doggett, Director of the Red Wolf Club. "I really want to thank the volunteers in each area who host each tournament, and we appreciate all the hard work they've put in to make each event successful."
The Osceola tournament, known as the ASU Golf Classic, is the oldest of the Scarlet Scrambles and will be held for the 45th time. The tournament will be held at the Osceola Municipal Golf Course.
The tournament at the Newport Country Club will be held for the 20th time, while the tournament at Paragould Country Club will take place for the 26th time and the Blytheville Country Club will host a Scarlet Scramble for the fourth consecutive year.
All proceeds from the tournament benefit the ASU Red Wolf Club. For more than 50 years the Red Wolf Club has been the development arm of ASU Athletics, and its goals are to provide educational opportunities to student-athletes, improve athletic facilities and enhance donor's experiences.
