Drugs found during seat belt checkpoint

POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) – Police conducting a "Click It Or Ticket" checkpoint, discover drugs in a stopped vehicle.

According to Pocahontas Police Chief Cecil Tackett, PPD and Arkansas State Police officers pulled over John Davis of St. Louis around 9:30 p.m. Friday night.  Police say Davis was not wearing a seat belt and the scent of marijuana was coming from the vehicle.

Officers brought in a drug dog to investigate the vehicle.  Police say the dog found a large amount of marijuana and what appeared to be ecstasy hidden in the vehicle.

Bond for Davis is expected to be set next week.  He is currently in the Randolph County Jail.

The checkpoint took place near U.S. 67 and Maple Street in Pocahontas.
