HENDERSON, AR (KAIT) - An elderly woman that went missing Saturday night was found safe about four and half hours later.
At 9:45 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff's office responded to the call of an 83-year-old woman missing from a house in Henderson near Float Creek. Family members told officers the woman suffers from Alzheimer's and wandered out of the back of house.
The Baxter County Sheriff's helicopter and tracking dogs from the Arkansas Department of Correction were brought in to search for the woman.
Sheriff's officials say the woman was found about a half mile away from the house in a wooded area around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. The woman was checked out, and according to officers, she was in good health minus a few scrapes.
According to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office, the Texas woman was on vacation in the Henderson area with her family.
