Traffic stop ends with man arrested on drug charges

Melbourne, AR (KAIT) - A region eight man faces drug charges following a routine traffic stop.

Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence said Lonnie Allen Kempher, 45, of Lake View, Arkansas was initially charged with driving on a suspended license.

During a search of his vehicle, a sheriff's deputy found a plastic bag containing a white substance suspected of being methamphetamine. The deputy also found a set of digital scales, a metal spoon with white residue, a smoking device, a syringe, rolling papers and other small plastic baggies.

Lawrence said Kempher has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with the purpose to deliver, which is a class "C" felony. He's also been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a class "D" felony.

Circuit Judge John Dan Kemp set Kempher's bond for $7,500. He posted bond on May 23rd.
