Two local Farm Service Agencies set to close

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Two Region 8 Farm Service Agencies are among nine total in Arkansas that will be closing.

In a news release Thursday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the agency announced that FSA offices in Fulton and Izard County will close.  Other counties losing their offices are: Benton, Bradley, Faulkner, Garland, Johnson, Logan and Pulaski. 

There are a total of 61 FSA offices in the state.

The release states the closures are part of the USDA's "Blueprint for Stronger Service"  announced in January.

For those affected by the closures the USDA states, "FSA will provide farmers and ranchers affected by consolidations an opportunity to choose the most convenient neighboring county office to conduct their future business."

Employees in the closing offices will also be provided an opportunity to continue working with the FSA.
