JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Two Region 8 Farm Service Agenciesare among nine total in Arkansas that will be closing.
In a news release Thursday by the U.S. Department ofAgriculture, the agency announced that FSA offices in Fulton and Izard Countywill close. Other counties losing theiroffices are: Benton, Bradley, Faulkner, Garland, Johnson, Logan andPulaski.
There are a total of 61 FSA offices in the state.
The release states the closures are part of the USDA's "Blueprintfor Stronger Service" announced inJanuary.
For those affected by the closures the USDA states, "FSA will provide farmers and ranchers affected by consolidationsan opportunity to choose the most convenient neighboring county office toconduct their future business."
Employees in the closing offices will alsobe provided an opportunity to continue working with the FSA.
