FORREST CITY, AR (KAIT) – Forrest City Police are reporting that throughout the Memorial Day weekend, police were alerted to several criminal acts supposedly brought on by an attempted robbery at a car wash.
According to Forrest City Police, Joseph Higgins, 20, of Forrest City, was arrested on previous warrants and charged with aggravated robbery, possession of a firearm by certain persons, and unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle on May 30. The arrest comes after police say he was involved in at least three gun-related incidents around the city.
Police say the initial call came in Friday around 11:15 a.m. after Antonine Wilson told officers about an attempted armed robbery at a car wash by two men.
From there, officers also received reports of gunfire in the 100 block of South Division Street, where one of the previous robbery suspects and an occupant of Wilson's car were exchanging gunfire.
More reports were filed over the weekend as Wilson's home was shot up, and Molotov cocktails were launched into it in an attempt to burn it. In addition, police say Wilson's car was set on fire.
Additional arrest warrants have been issued in connection with these incidents.
