JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Several emergency responders cametogether Tuesday to become even more prepared for natural disasters.
Emergency management officials from 12 counties in northeastArkansas along with local American Red Cross officials attended the meeting atthe CraigheadCounty Courthouse Annex.
The exercise was based on the scenario of a disastrous earthquake. Craighead County Director of EmergencyManagement David Moore says information learned by working with other countyrepresentatives is invaluable.
Moore says, "This informationis something we wouldn't be able to gather on our own. We've got to have this working collaborationbetween counties to be able to understand what these problems overall inNortheast Arkansas are going to be."
Every emergency management office conducts similarexercises to prepare for disasters throughout the year, but Tuesday's meetingwas the first regional gathering of its kind.
