JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The grand total for the local RedCross Chapter Red Cross-a-Thon is $84,388.16.
We want to send out a big thank you to everyone in Region8 for helping raise the funds needed for such a wonderful organization.
Pam Knapp-Carver says while the chapter did not reach itsgoal of $150,000, she's not taking it as a bad sign. Many donations come inafter the Red Cross-a-Thon telethon is over.
Not only did volunteers take pledges over the phone, but werealso out across northeast Arkansas getting change from drivers as they passedby.
You can still make a donation to the American Red Crossby stopping by or mailing a check to the chapter office in Jonesboro. Yourdonations stay with northeast Arkansas to help to help neighbors who have losteverything in disasters like house fires, flooding, and severe weather.
Without the generosity of people here in Region 8, theRed Cross wouldn't be able to help so many victims, says Knapp-Carver.
In February, the Red Cross helped 26 people who weredisplaced by a fire at the Pines Apartments in north Jonesboro. And, last year, the local Red Cross chapter helped 284 families who lost their homes to fire.
The chapter serves 16 counties in northeast Arkansas.
