JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Several Region 8 students are shadowing medical professionals. The Medical Application of Science for Health (MASH) program is a free, two-week program for local high school students interested in the medical field.
Students spend time with a variety of professionals learning about work activities and opportunities in health industry. Shadowing a diverse group of medical professionals allows one Region 8 teen to narrow down what career she wants to pursue. "It's really opened my eyes to what I do and don't like. It's given me a newfound respect to the programs, even if I don't want to go into them."
The goal of the program is for students to have fun while learning. Students will participate in a variety of events, including the dissection of a pig's heart, and help out with the American Red Cross Blood drive on June 13.
The MASH program will hold a graduation celebration on June 14 at 7 PM at the St. Bernards Annex. It is in its 23rd year.
