Kyria Seymour of Jonesboro died Saturday, April 19, at LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN. A memorial fund has been created for an 11-year-old girl who died after she became trapped beneath a pipe in a water-filled ditch for 20 minutes.

JONESBORO (KAIT) – The man accused of shooting his cousin over a joke about kids, pleaded guilty in court Monday.

According to the Craighead County Prosecutor's Office, Dominic Roston pleaded guilty to battery in the first degree, and possession of drugs and a firearm. He was sentenced to 5 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction.

Jonesboro Police say Dominic Roston shot his cousin Louis Gamble twice after the two men were joking with each other that eventually led to an argument.

The shooting happened around 2a.m.on June 7, at 201 State Street, Apartment 8.

Police found Gamble lying in the floor with gunshot wounds to his stomach and leg. Gamble was later transported to the Med in Memphis. Police believe alcohol played a part in the shooting.

Witnesses told police it was Gamble's cousin, Roston that shot him. Police say Roston fled the scene in a car with his girlfriend driving. Police later pulled the two over and recovered a handgun believed to have been used in the shooting.

Police say they also found marijuana at Roston's home.
