MOUNTAIN HOME, AR (KAIT) – A felony charge has been filed against a Baxter County man following a child pornography investigation.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office, William G. Ely was arrested and charged Thursday as part of an investigation that started on May 19th

A sheriff's deputy responded to a tip about the discovery of suspected child pornography on a computer at a residence on Highway 5 by two people living at the home.  The two said the computer belonged to another person, who was not there when the deputy was investigating.  The computer was turned over to the deputy to be examined.

Officials say on May 22nd Ely came to the sheriff's office, but would not answer questions as investigators tried to interview him.  Investigators obtained a search warrant later that day for the computer, an external hard drive and a flash drive.

According to the Baxter County sheriff, pictures of nude girls who appeared to be prepubescent and very young were found.

Ely was charged with felony distributing, possessing or viewing child pornography.  His bond was set at $50,000 and his next court date was set for June 21st.
