JONESBORO, AR - President Bush has already made three trips to Arkansas in 2004, and it now appears that his next visit to the Natural State may be right here in Region 8.

K8 News learned, late this morning, that officials with the Craighead County Republican Committee are making plans for a presidential visit for sometime between now and the November general election date.

A memorandum sent to members of the county's Republican Committee has listed as its subject line: "Friday morning's breakfast meeting and George Bush may be coming to Jonesboro in the next few weeks."  The memo also states, "We have been informed that President George W. Bush may be coming to Jonesboro this summer."

Local GOP spokesman Ted Pylant told K8 News by phone that, "It looks like he's coming for sure."  Pylant says no firm date for the President's visit has been scheduled at this time, but it appears that Bush will appear in Jonesboro "in three to four months."

Republican Committeeman D.B. Price said of Bush, "He always comes to Arkansas every election time.  Even during the years when elections are not going on, he's been here more than any other president that I know of except President Clinton."

The President appeared in northwest Arkansas just last week, marking this third trip to the state this year.  Arkansas is considered a key battleground state in this year's presidential election.
