JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Three Region 8 residents were honored today by the Fisher Street Community in Action Non-Profit organization this morning.

Larry Hunt, Janicie Hyatt, and the late Dr. William Young were honored at a ceremony with Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin.  The group dedicated one of its community gardens to the three people who have helped the gardens take root.  Perrin says this honor is well deserved.

"It's just honoring those folks and what they've done, have done in the past, and the whole purpose of that is why we're having this garden. That's loving the community and giving back." Perrin said at the ceremony.

Fisher Street Community in Action President Charles Coleman says that the organization wanted to give back to those who have helped the gardens grow.  "We need to give back to some people that have really put some time and some money in helping us get these gardens together.  They have participated and actually helped us. That really means a lot."

Coleman says, with their help, the community can soon come to the garden and get fresh produce for free.
