JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The Poinsett County Economic Development team made several stops in Harrisburg today. The group met this morning at Harrisburg High School to check out the school's garden.
The garden is maintained by students at Harrisburg High School. Brookland Mayor Kenneth Jones says he was very impressed with the job students have done so far. "I think it's amazing that young people today are getting interested in doing what we did as kids when we were younger, and that's having family gardens."
Jones says this garden will help promote growth of gardens in cities and give something for kids to do during the summer. He also plans to take the things he learned on the tour back to Brookland.
"We've been looking at a community garden for some time now and hopefully we can gain knowledge from this and go back to the school and work with the school and hopefully next year have our own community garden"
The group also stopped by the natural gas pump for vehicles installed last week.
