JONESBORO (ASU) – The Arkansas State football team's season opener Sept. 1 at Oregon is scheduled to be televised by ESPN, giving the Red Wolves six total televised outings to date in 2012.
The ASU-Oregon game is scheduled to kick off at 9:30 p.m. CT at Autzen Stadium and is one of three A-State non-conference games currently slated for television. The Red Wolves will host Memphis Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. on ESPN3.com and their Sept. 15 game at Nebraska will be televised by ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU at 11 a.m. The network designation for the ASU-Nebraska game will be made at a later date.
ASU will carry a nine-game regular season winning streak into the contest at national-power Oregon, which finished 2011 ranked No. 5 in the final BCS standings. New A-State head coach Gus Malzahn will lead the Red Wolves into their game against Oregon, which he faced as Auburn's offensive coordinator in the national championship game two seasons ago.
ASU has three additional conference games set to be televised in 2012, including one on ESPN2 and two others on ESPNU. Additional television opportunities still exist for A-State, which played 10 televised games last season to match the school record that was initially set in 2010.
ASU's three televised conference contests are all midweek games, including its Oct. 4 outing at Florida International on ESPNU at 6:30 p.m. CT, its Oct. 23 game at Louisiana-Lafayette on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. and its Nov. 8 home game against ULM on ESPNU at 6 p.m.
