LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas State Highway Commission has announced available federal funds for recreational trail development in Arkansas.
Officials say the funds were appropriated by Congress to build and maintain motorized, non-motorized and multiple use recreational trails.
Among those eligible to apply for the funds are cities; counties; state and federal government agencies and not-for-profit agencies.
Officials say the funds will be available to successful applicants on a matching basis. Eighty percent a project's cost will come from the federal funds allocated to the state and the remaining 20% will come from the project's sponsor.
The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department must receive the applications by Aug. 1.
