Bass Pro announces plans for Little Rock store

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Bass Pro Shops says it will build a sports store in southwest Little Rock where Interstates 430 and 30 meet.

Developer Tommy Hodges says Bass Pro plans a 120,000-square-foot store that is set to open by December 2013.

Bass Pro says the store will initially create about 250 jobs.

Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris says the company wanted to build a store in the Little Rock metropolitan area for years. A planned Bass Pro store in North Little Rock was scuttled over environmental concerns.

It will be the company's first store in Arkansas.
