Region 8 Deals With Rising Gas Prices

May 19, 2004--Posted at 6:30 p.m. CDT

JONESBORO--$1.86, $1.91, 2.37.....

Gas prices are going up at an alarming rate and most gas prices in Region 8 are approaching $2.00. Folks we talk to today said they fear gas prices will get worse before they get better.

Traveler, Penny Rece, says she fears gas will be over $2.00 before the end of the summer,  because we are all paying more at the pump, vacation plans could be put on hold, "We won't be going anywhere else,"said Rece.

Folks are doing everything they can to try and save a penny. Jeff VanHorn, who just bought a new car, is hoping the smaller car will cost him less to fill.

"Of course, you can see we are buying smaller cars these days to accommodate for the higher prices," says VanHorn.

He still pays a big price to fill up his small car, ".....$35 bucks to fill up my car,"said VanHorn.

We all know gas prices have gone up before, and a lot of people say this is the highest they have ever seen gas prices in Arkansas.
