Some local drivers have feared that a bridge collapse like the one in Washington State this week could happen closer to home. People have been particularly fearful of the aging Black River Bridge that connects Black Rock and Portia on U.S. 63 in Lawrence County.

TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) – A mysterious explosion nearly
destroyed a house in Trumann late Monday night.
According
to Trumann Police Chief Chad Henson, a house located on Oakland and Gum exploded
and then caught on fire around 9:30.
"Paged
out to some kind of explosion here on Oakland Street. First man on the scene
said there were flames coming out the roof on the back part of the house. The
meter's been pulled. The gas line has already been pulled, too," Trumann Assistant
Fire Chief Earnie Link explained as his crew continued to examine the building.
Henson
said witnesses described a strong chemical smell just before the house
"blew up."
The Trumann Fire Department
reported no injuries and said the fire department was still under
investigation.
