LITTLE ROCK, AR - A farm at Judsonia is the target of a suit by 38 immigrant workers from Mexico. The suit filed yesterday in federal court at Little Rock claims Gillam Farms at Judsonia failed to provide full compensation.
The suit says the workers had to pay their way from their towns in Mexico to Laredo, Texas, and then to Arkansas. According to the suit, they worked in May and June of 2002 at Gillam Farms, and after the work was over, they all traveled back to Mexico.
The lawsuit claims that the workers should have been paid at leaste minimum wage and compensated for travel to and from Mexico. The workers claim they weren't compensated at minimum wage and did not receive travel expenses.
