Police say drug possession puts four Cleburne County people behind bars.
JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A group of Region 8 residents is working to keep babies healthy. Tuesday is the 7th annual "Farmers Be a Hero for Babies."
Agents with Farmer's Insurance worked to raise money for the March of Dimes. They sponsored a variety of different fundraising events.
"We could not do it without the support of just people in the community, local business owners, families that have been touched by the March Of Dimes and that want to reach out and help us." says Melissa Gann with the March of Dimes.
Gann says they don't just work for the health of preemies, but infants as well. "Our primary focus is to prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Just anything that might cause the death of a baby."
The March of Dimes works to prevent birth defects, premature births and infant mortality. Gann says that mission is carried out primarily through programs of research to find ways to prevent those health challenges from happening.
The March of Dimes has been fighting for health babies for around 75 years.
Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe said he hopes to name a replacement in the next several days for the state treasurer, who resigned over accusations she took cash bribes from a bond broker.
