Railroad crossing punctures semi’s gas tank causing spill; closes road and tracks

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A gas spill on Fisher Street has closed the road and all train traffic in that area until crews can clean up the spill.

According to E-911 Director Jeff Presley, a tractor-trailer was crossing the railroad tracks on Fisher Street when the rough crossing punctured a hole in the semi's gas tank.

Diesel fuel spilled over the railroad tracks, and an environmental crew is on the way to clean up the spill.

The tracks have been closed off to all trains and Fisher Street has been closed to traffic between Cate and Aggie.

Presley says everything should open back up in a few hours.
