JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) –   If you are looking for a free ride, the Jonesboro JETS transit system is offering one.  Tomorrow is "Dump the Pump."

"Dump the Pump" is sponsored by the American Public Transit Association and is designed to encourage people to turn off their cars, burn less fuel, and save some money.

JETS Transit Director Steve Ewart says it's beneficial to people who want an alternative to driving their cars.  "It helps them; it helps our community, helps the environments.  It's just a really positive thing."

Ewart says there's no doubt that public transit is more economical than a single person driving their car.  He says JETS will become better known and more convenient for Jonesboro citizens.  "What we've got to do is grow JETS so that it's more convenient, we have more opportunities, more frequency and things like that and we're working on that now."

This is the sixth year for JETS to participate in the "Dump the Pump" initiative.
