Stabbing victim’s name released, suspect faces 1st degree murder charge

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT)– Paragould Police has released the name of the man stabbed to death lateWednesday night.

According toParagould Police Chief Todd Stovall, 36-year-old Richard Mansfield was stabbedto death during a fight at 10:20 p.m. on the 300 block of North 13th Avenue.

Mansfield had beentaken to a hospital outside the city for treatment but did not survive.

According to theSenath Police Department, the suspect James Lynn Hensley, 26, was arrested inconnection with the stabbing Thursday morning. He was later transferred to theKennett Police Department before being taken to Paragould.

Paragould Police sayHensley is facing first degree murder charges.

An officer at Senath said he received a tip thatHensley was at the Casey's Gas Station. The officer said he then went toconfront Hensley and arrested him with no struggle. He said Hensley was justwaiting at the gas station to see what happened next.

This investigation is ongoing.
