No seatbelt lands man in jail after police find large stash of weed

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A Jonesboro man is facing drugscharges after he's pulled over for not wearing his seatbelt.

According to the Jonesboro Police report, Shawn Smith waspulled over at the intersection of Warren and Roseclair for not wearing hisseatbelt.

When police ran Smith's name through dispatch, Smith hadwarrants out for his arrest. When police searched Smith, they found 5.5 gramsof marijuana in his pocket. When police searched the car, they found a largerbag of marijuana totaling 116.9 grams under the passenger side seat.

Smith is charged with felony possession of a controlledsubstance, driving while license suspended, no seatbelt, and failure to appearcharges.

He's set to appear in court on June 25.
