Bikers ride to benefit Lawrence County tourism

HOXIE, AR (KAIT) – More than 50 motorcyclists rode together Saturday in the first ever Rockabilly Run in Lawrence County.

The bikers met up Saturday morning at Cox Powersports in Hoxie and registered for the event, which cost each rider $20. All the proceeds will help pay for the future tourism projects, like the giant guitar walk currently under construction.

Charles Snapp, a member of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce tourism committee, says the run will hopefully become an annual event that continually brings prople to the area.

"If we can just do it and break even on the expenses and we make people aware of what Lawrence County has to offer, we've accomplished our goal," Snapp said.

The Rockabilly Run concluded with a concert and festival at Beatles Park in Walnut Ridge.

Prizes were also awarded, including a four-night trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.
