Poplar Bluff man jailed for slashing man’s neck with box cutter

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) – A Poplar Bluff man is in jailafter police say he slashed another man's neck with a box cutter.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, 33-year-oldWilliam Fanter slashed 45-year-old Timothy Hartwick's neck with a box cutterduring an argument.

Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Cynthia Streetfor a stabbing. Police found Hartwick at the home with a serious cut to hisneck. He was transported to the Poplar Bluff Region Medical Center. His conditionis unknown at this time.

Witnesses told police that Fanter slashed Hartwick's neckduring an argument. Fanter was arrested and is charged with assault in thefirst degree. He's being held in the Butler County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
