Atlanta, GA (USCS) - June 26, 2012 - The United Sprint Car Series (USCS) presented by Goodyear www.uscsracing.com Outlaw Thunder Tour invades Malden Speedway on Friday night June 29th as headliners of the Malden Speedway "Fireworks 150". The event serves as round one of a sprint car quadruple-header scheduled over the 2012 Independence Day holiday week.
The holiday weekend special event is expected to bring top winged Outlaw style sprint car drivers from at least six states to the track. The USCS winged sprint car race will award USCS presented by Goodyear National Championship points as well as USCS Mid-South Thunder regional series Championship points. The USCS Mid-South Thunder regional series primarily consists of races in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri and West Tennessee.
Drivers expected to compete include several who have been honored as National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Drivers of the Year. The ten-time USCS National Champion, Terry Gray headlines the entry list. Tim Crawley who has won over forty USCS main events over the last five seasons is entered.
Additionally, the 2010 USCS Rookie of the Year 19 year-old female sprint car hot shoe, Morgan Turpen will also be in the field. Turpen, who won two times during the 2011 season, is in 4th place in the current National standings.
An action packed USCS presented by Goodyear sprint car racing program will include test and tune hot laps followed by the evening's first sprint car race, the Goodyear Speed Dash that showcases the top six cars from the previous USCS main event in an edge-of-your-seat six-car shootout. The dash will be followed by a series qualifying heat races and a Last Chance/B-Main race(s). The evening's grand finale will be the USCS "Bottle Rocket 30" (lap) A-main event.
Also featured on the special Holiday weekend racing program are the mighty open wheel modifieds of the K&N Filters USCS Modified Touring Series racing for $1000 top prize. The racing card also includes the return of the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series for winged mini sprints. Additionally the Malden weekly Nesmith Late Models will be racing for a $1000top prize. Also on the racing card will be stock car racing in four divisions as part of the "Fireworks 150" event. All in all after the preliminary qualifying races in each division, there are 150 laps of main events plus a professional holiday fireworks celebration.
