DIEHLSTADT, MO (KFVS) -

Hoping history doesn't repeat itself, people in one Scott County community come together Saturday to raise money for a tornado siren.

Today a large crowd in Diehlstadt gathered at CJs Bar and Grill.

They had live music, games and a live auction started at 3 p.m.

All proceeds will go toward a new weather warning siren for the Village of Diehlstadt.

Early this month an EF 2 tornado ripped through the area killing three people and causing a lot of damage.

In June, 70-year-old Loy Miller, his two sons, 50-year-old Jasper Miller and 48-year-old Randy Miller were all killed inside a mobile home blown over by the storm.

Randy Miller's daughter Heather talks about why today's effort is so important.

"When the tornado hit there was no way of my family knowing that there was a tornado about to hit them," said Heather Miller. "Because of that they lost their lives because they were not able to seek shelter in time."

Hundreds attended today's event.

We're told they raised at least $5,000.
