JONESBORO -- Jody Miller lost his job last month after the beating incident at the Craighead County detention center. The incident took place on April 1, 2004. Miller was one of four jailers fired by Sherriff Jack McCann following an internal investigation of  the beating of Terry O'Neal. Monday Miller appeared in front of the  greivence committee in an attempt to clear his name and get his job back.

Jody Miller admited that he kicked Terry O'Neal during Monday's hearing. However; he says that his actions were jusified and that he didn't deserve to be fired. Sherriff McCann states that Miller is a good person who made a bad decision when he kicked a restrained Terry O'Neal.  " The only way Jody Miller or the other three jailers can get their job back from me is through court order it won't happen any other way." said Sherriff McCann.

The hearing ended with a 3-1 vote agaist Miller. The lone member against the ruling felt he needed more information before making his decision.
