Some local drivers have feared that a bridge collapse like the one in Washington State this week could happen closer to home. People have been particularly fearful of the aging Black River Bridge that connects Black Rock and Portia on U.S. 63 in Lawrence County.

AR (KAIT) – Arkansas State Police said they are still waiting for information
from an autopsy after a man was beaten to death at a local bar in Cross County.
According to Arkansas State
Police, on Wednesday June 27, Alan Holt was beaten at the Salty Kracker in
Wynne. Holt was later transported to the Med in Memphis where he died. His body
has been sent to the state medical examiner for an autopsy.
Dale
Arnold with the Arkansas State Police said the autopsy reports have yet to come
in.
ASP has not released a motive
in the beating, and no arrests have been made.
Police say the investigation is
still ongoing.
