JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro City Pool is now open and ready for people to come and beat the summer heat.
Mayor Harold Perrin spoke at an opening ceremony to mark the day. "The city doesn't have a municipal pool other than Earl Bell. This is a much larger pool, this will also give JETS a place to start doing swim meets."
The open pool now gives resident a place to cool down and gives parents a place to bring their children during the summer heat.
"I think it's good for the community because you need somewhere to cool off. It's a hot summer and Earl Bell is closed and thank God that this one is open" says James Harold, father of 4 children.
The pool is handicap accessible. It will be open 7 days a week from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.. Perrin says an additional pool may be opened at a future date.
The pool is located on Nettleton Avenue.
