A late night crash in Greene County results in the death of a Pemiscot County woman. Two children were also injured.
MALDEN, MO (KFVS) -
Malden police say a man was arrested Tuesday, July 3 after officers were hit in their police car July 1 with a fiery object.
On July 1, police say officers were investigating a call in the 300 block of East Peck when they saw a "flaming projectile" traveling towards them. They say the projectile hit the side of the police car and then ricocheted off of the car and exploded in front of the officers.
According to Malden police, the explosion caused some minor damage to the patrol car. They say the officers also experienced temporary hearing loss, as well as one officer receiving minor burns to his arm and damage to his uniform.
Officer immediately went to the area where the mortar-fired object was shot from and officers identified Demetrius K. Wofford as he ran away.
On July 3, Wofford was arrested while making a court appearance on an un-related charge. He is currently being held in the Dunklin County Jail on a warrant for assault of a law enforcement officer and armed criminal action with a bond set at $100,000 cash.
