Lonoke County home burns, fireworks blamed

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Authorities in Lonoke County say a home and several buildings on a parcel in Cabot burned in a blaze started by fireworks. Three people have been arrested and charged with felony criminal mischief.
The Lonoke County Sheriff's Department says the residence burned at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities had a report that three people were riding on all-terrain vehicles and lighting fireworks.
A state trooper found the trio and arrested 23-year-old Katlynn Mayfield, 21-year-old Samantha Ashley Mayfield and 24-year-old Matthew Mayfield, all of Cabot.
Lonoke County is among 70 of Arkansas' 75 counties that have burn bans in place. Authorities are urging people to not light fireworks this Independence Day because of the extreme fire danger.
